Utah License Plates

Utah issued its first license plate in the year 1915 with all Utah license plates dated with the issue year. Utah license plates were all made of steel, and later aluminum – porcelain was never used in the manufacture of Utah license plates. All Utah plates were made with the letter U embossed at the end of the number to signify the pre-state status of Utah.

The first slogan was used on the 1942, 1945 and 1946 license plates "CENTER SCENIC AMERICA". The slogan "THIS IS THE PLACE" was embossed/stamped on Utah 1947 license plates and "THE FRIENDLY STATE" was embossed/stamped on the 1948 license plate. Slogans were discontinued until 1983 when "SKI UTAH!" and "THE GREATEST SNOW ON EARTH" appeared on Utah license plate. The 1983 Utah license plate was also the first license plate issued by the state withy silk screening. The slogan "THE GREATEST SNOW ON EARTH" is still used today!

In 1975, Utah license plates were embossed with a dividing symbol of a beehive. The first silk screened Utah license plate in 1983 depicted a skier just left of the slogan SKI UTAH!. To save metal during world War II, Utah manufactured the 1945 license plate with a masonite base and a piece of paper with the license plate number, the state name: Utah, the valid-issue year 45, and slogan "CENTER SCENIC AMERICA".

I received the 1947 OREGON STATE LICENSE PLATE--EMBOSSED WITH MY CUSTOM NUMBER BY PRIORITY MAIL ON THURSDAY, MARCH 25th, I am impressed beyond words, looking atthe plate is like being transported back in time to see my late father's 1947 Black Buick RoadMaster, White topped Convertible that had the 380-497 plate, the car was stolen in Portland, and wound up on blocks in a field in Texas, it was beyond recovery, never saw it after that.As I e-mailed earlier, I will be ordering 2 more plates, possibly on Friday March 26th or Monday March 29th. My son will be helping with the ordering, he is more familiar with theprocess of using the computer.

I picked up my license plate from my aunt's place this weekend and I just wanted to let you know it arrived safe and sound, and to say it's very beautiful, and to say thank you so much for helping me and making sure I finally got it. It looks perfect and exactly like the real license plate from that era; I can't believe how similar it is to the real thing! Again, thank you very, very much! It (and you) are wonderful!
