Arizona License Plates

Arizona Territory cities issued motor vehicle license plates starting from about 1909. Arizona became a state in the union in 1912 but the earliest license plate sample found was a 1914 white on blue issue. The first slogan on an Arizona license plate was issued in 1939: MARCOS DE NIZA. This license plate commemorated the arrival of the Franciscan monk Marcos De Niza in 1539 in his search for the legendary Seven Cities of Cibola. The GRAND CANYON STATE slogan was first embossed in 1940 on Arizona license plates and this continues today with a screen print of the slogan.

The first graphic to appear on Arizona license plates was an embossed steer head on left center and this was the first plate in the United States to feature livestock. In 1980, a cactus logo was embossed between letters and numbers on the Arizona license plate and these plates are still used today by collectors. The saguaro cactus symbol on a desert landscape with slogan GRAND CANYON STATE.

As a mining state, Arizona was fist to use copper to manufacture license plates beginning in 1932, although copper colored plates were used as far back as 1916. Pure copper license plates were also used in 1936, 1937 and 1938. In 1949, a waffled textured was embossed on Arizona’s aluminum license plates to make them stronger. Not many copper license plates from Arizona have survived in good condition and these are highly collectable.

Due to the dry desert climate in Arizona, old vehicles survived in good condition compared to the snow states where salt used on winter roads damaged car bodies or in sea coast states like Florida and Louisiana. Arizona boasts a large number of car collectors because of many retirees from California and mid-western states who moved there.

I just got my 4th plate from you today and I continue to be amazed by the quality of the product. Right down to the proper size and no-hole orientation of the 55 NY plate (I only learned that by going back and visiting the site). Thanks so much. You've helped to make several old cars of mine, my brother's and my best friend even more period-authentic. Great product and well worth the expense for something done with such a high level of quality! I guess that might be silly, since the originals were made by state prisoners ... but that's another story!!!

I received the 1947 OREGON STATE LICENSE PLATE--EMBOSSED WITH MY CUSTOM NUMBER BY PRIORITY MAIL ON THURSDAY, MARCH 25th, I am impressed beyond words, looking atthe plate is like being transported back in time to see my late father's 1947 Black Buick RoadMaster, White topped Convertible that had the 380-497 plate, the car was stolen in Portland, and wound up on blocks in a field in Texas, it was beyond recovery, never saw it after that.As I e-mailed earlier, I will be ordering 2 more plates, possibly on Friday March 26th or Monday March 29th. My son will be helping with the ordering, he is more familiar with theprocess of using the computer.

I had seen this website about 6 months ago prior to purchasing my 2009 VW Jetta. When I finally bought the car I slowly started modifying it: 15" Kicker sub in a ported box, HID lights, smoked taillights, clear sidemarkers, and even a 2" shorty antenna. After debating with myself whether to make the purchase or not I finally gave in and ordered my German license plate with the Universal Holder. About a business week later the plates arrived and I was nervous & anxious to see how they had turned out...the product AMAZING! I still can't believe I only paid $36 for these plates that could easily have been sold for $150. The quality is top-notch and installation took about 5 minutes total. THANK YOU FOR HAVING SUCH GREAT PRODUCTS. I will definitely be recommending you guys.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the extra effort in duplicating my original Italian license plate for my 1957 Abarth 750 GT Corsa. I thought I would send along a couple of pictures so you could see the end result. I am a very happy repeat customer and have referred many of my colleagues to your company.John
