Wisconsin License Plates

Wisconsin issued its first license plate in 1905 and unlike many East Coast states, none of these were porcelain. In 1940, the slogan "AMERICA’S DAIRYLAND" was introduced and is still used today. Wisconsin introduced its first license plate with graphics in 1986, which included images of a sailboat against a blazing sun, a couple of geese in flight, and a farm scene. The original issue year plate numbers were blue, which looked similar to the Illinois license plate and in 1987, the imprint color changed to red.

The Wisconsin license plates issued in 1905 – 1913 were made by riveting aluminum numbers onto a metal base. The only years where Wisconsin’s plates were undated were 1905 through 1911. In 1968, Wisconsin issued its first retro-reflective license plate in a lemon-yellow finish. Reflective white followed in 1968 and Reflective Yellow in 1980. All license plates issued by Wisconsin after 1968 had a retro-reflective finish. The DOT awarded states with funds for road projects if states issued license plates with a retro-reflective finish.

I just got my 4th plate from you today and I continue to be amazed by the quality of the product. Right down to the proper size and no-hole orientation of the 55 NY plate (I only learned that by going back and visiting the site). Thanks so much. You've helped to make several old cars of mine, my brother's and my best friend even more period-authentic. Great product and well worth the expense for something done with such a high level of quality! I guess that might be silly, since the originals were made by state prisoners ... but that's another story!!!

Carina - Bandon, Oregon

I just received my EU-style Michigan license plate and it's brilliantly done. It's an amazing reproduction of European license plates, the blue bar on the left features the letters MI and a very clear State of Michigan flag.I very much look forward to mounting it on my BMW Alpina to add that certain touch to the vehicle.Licenseplates.tv, anytime again! Keep up the great work and I shall recommend you to those in need for license plates.

Robert

THANKS, the actual plate you made looks much better in person than the proof you sent for me to approve, you went above and beyond my expectations, and thanks for taking the time to get it right.
