Mississippi License Plates

Mississippi began issuing license plates in 1912. There are no examples of Mississippi license plates which existed prior to 1912 with proper documentation. From 1912 through 1926, all Mississippi license plates were embossed/stamped vertically with the letters MISS. From 1914 through 1918 through 1918, the Mississippi license plates were undated. A horizontal embossing format was introduced in 1927: MISS. 1927.

A vertical MISS was reintroduced in 1941 through 1950. The vertical MISS was centered on the license plate. An expiration date: EX. 10-31-41 was embossed/stamped on the Mississippi license plate in 1941 and this continued to 1950. The 1951 Mississippi license plate issue was embossed/stamped with the county name beginning in 1951 and is still done currently although the county name is screened printed. Special issue plates like NASCAR do not have a screen printed county name.

The first slogan appeared on Mississippi license plates in 1977, a screen print of HOSPITALITY STATE along with a silk screened magnolia. The slogan was deleted in the 1981 Mississippi license plate issue. Over the early years, license plates issued in Mississippi were practical and there were no unique characters or embossed/stamped designs. Mississippi license plate colors included: White, Black, Blue, Aluminum, Light Blue, Cream, Gray, Silver, dark Green, Tan, Maroon, Dark Blue, Yellow and Orange. Retro-reflective white was introduced in 1956 and is still used today.

I wanted everyone to know what a wonderful experience I had ordering from your company. The quality and workmanship you put into this tag is impeccable. I am tickled pink how good it looks on the front of my 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman S.I had a lot of questions about the tag from people at the car show yesterday. In case anyone wonders about the name "MAURICE BG", this is in honor of Maurice Gibbs, from the Bee Gees, who passed away a few years ago. The color of my car is British Green hence the BG so it wasnatural to name it after Maurice. Thanks again. I will be ordering another tag soon for my husband's classic Lincoln.

I received the 1947 OREGON STATE LICENSE PLATE--EMBOSSED WITH MY CUSTOM NUMBER BY PRIORITY MAIL ON THURSDAY, MARCH 25th, I am impressed beyond words, looking atthe plate is like being transported back in time to see my late father's 1947 Black Buick RoadMaster, White topped Convertible that had the 380-497 plate, the car was stolen in Portland, and wound up on blocks in a field in Texas, it was beyond recovery, never saw it after that.As I e-mailed earlier, I will be ordering 2 more plates, possibly on Friday March 26th or Monday March 29th. My son will be helping with the ordering, he is more familiar with theprocess of using the computer.

I confirm that I received the plate for my motorcyle. Many thanks to you and the team at Platemeister for the excellent quality of workmanship. You were correct about warning of issues with the postal service in the UK : The UK Post Office here advised me they had sent notification of the item arriving (along with a 'collection code' ) to someone else's address!!!!!. Thankfully the USPS email link 'Endicia' (sent by your colleague Jerome) enabled me to keep close tabs on the delivery stages and to bypass the error made by the UK Post office...
